- 1 cup softened unsalted butter
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cup chopped nuts (such as walnuts or pecans)
- 1 cup (or more, depending on preference) chocolate chips or chocolate chunks
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugars together until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla extract and mix well.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt. Add to the wet ingredients a little at the time, and mix until fully combined. Fold in the chopped nuts and chocolate chips.
- Scoop into 1-inch balls onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, making sure there are about 2 inches of space between each cookie. Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until puffed yet set. Let cool on the cookie sheet for about 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Yields 4 dozen cookies.
